Born and raised on a small island in the
Caribbean called “Dominica'' in 1983. A Mountainous land with a mixed
population of African descent and native Indians.
Since
11 years old, Dan began to identify his talent to create his own music. Always
listening to Ragga, Dance Hall and Reggae from people like Shabba
Ranks, Everton Blender, Junior Reid, Peter Tosh and also some Hip Hop groups
and artists. Dan heard a new song that was inspiring and learnt it surprisingly
fast, observing his ability to hold down a show and not forget his lyrics. And
that’s an advantage for a singer. Close friends and family members were
surprised with this talent.
From the years 1999 to present 2013, Dan never took a break from his musical productions. But the publicity of recordings and videos started in late 2009. Full dedication to the mission to be a worldwide recognized artist not just for a commercial purpose but also for personal spiritual balance. Chanting down all bad deeds of mankind and preaching a good message using real life events as experience to create lyrics.
In 2004 Dan went to Venezuela for studies, during which time he learnt to speak and then sing in Spanish, pursuing his goal as an artist, he always sang at the university’s international nights and always pleased to join with other artists to sing for a cause, making conscious music every time, even presently that has not changed.
At the end of 2009-2010 being in Dominica at that time, Dan had recorded enough tracks at many different home and profesional studios , others with just a laptop and adobe audition. Enough tunes to produce 18 demos and singles. Mainly English lyrics, Spanish and also Creole in some verses. The choice of riddims and intrumentals music has always been Reggae Dub, Roots Reggae, Dance hall and rap. Lately the genre has been expanded to even RaggaJungle, Jazz hip-hop and Dubstep, but always on a conscious level.
In late 2011 IjahDan Taurus returned to Venezuela to perform and promote his promotional albums “Defender of Da 7” a thirteen track album, and “DA to VENE”, abbreviation for “From Dominica to Venezuela”, a compilation of 22 tracks with artists and producers from Venezuela, creating a fusion of different styles of Reggae. On these proyects Song Featurings were done with artists like Aima Moses, Tikaf, Simba Orchestra, Mario el Kaballero, Ken G and others. Using Riddims from various producers from many different countries like St.Croix, France, Jamaica, England, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina and others. IjahDan has performed at several venues in Dominica and Venezuela with band or sound system. Presenting his music in places like Crazy Koconuts (Dominica) , zamzam café (Dominica), Anchorage Hotel (Dominica), Sym Zees (Dominica) just to mention a few . In Venezuela , the Moulin Rouge in Caracas with Jey Da Polemic , DunDum Dread and the Circulo Dub Band, Puto Bar (Caracas) with Dj George Palmer and Oreja Style, Cuyagua with No Borders Sound System from England, Teatro Bar (Caracas) with Dj Jammy & Dj Etnicaly, Dan has also performed at Maracay , Aragua , Acarigua, Barinas and other states. During these performances time Dan had the opportunity to Share stages with well-known Bands, Djs and artists like I Wayne, Junior Kelly, Shalom Vibration, Jahbafana, AudioSapien, El Prieto and a few others.
2012 in venezuela was a progressive year for Dan. The artist was able to record at better studios, and get more listening’s in South America after releasing his last Album on 21-12-12. Album titled 'REPATRIATION2012'. Promoting the album at shows, Radio Interviews and thru social networks like reverbnation, sound cloud and YouTube. Throughout the year 2012 he also recorded new songs for new and yet unreleased compilation projects due for this New Year 2013.Collaboration Albums from being produced in Chile, Argentina and Venezuela.

coming may 2013.

Recuerdo un día en el liceo que la principal llamo a mis padres a ver la cantidad de cassetes me habian quitado, hoy en día sabrán que fue la causa...Selah!
Hoy 1 de agosto, después de escuchar una de mis canciones grabado y producido por yo y yo en “Desde el Ghetto”...Veo todo lo que hay por mi en este mundo que vivo...Antes preguntaba a mi mismo, ¿porque doy tanto interés a la música mas que cualquiera de mis panas?
Yo mantenía mis cd`s mas organizados que cualquier otra cosa...De pana...me acuerdo durmiendo con unos bajo de la almohada y dormido con audífonos escuchando cada palabra y sintiéndome como que he pensado eso pero ahora el lo dice...Y me pasaba con los raperos. Reggae lo escuchaba para escaparme de las mentiras que sabia del rap, y fue por los ancianos en mi pueblo, decían que ellos son títeres de los masones parece que sabían del nuevo orden mundial desde los 80`s.
Entonces con docentes así alrededor, empezó a crecer rasta en IJAHDAN. Y la música que yo escuchaba venia mejorando de contenido y ritmo.
Antes me llamaban BIG DZ, mi voz se escuchaba igual a lo de shabba ranks, y cada ratico alguien mayor me pedía cantar una línea para comparar, pero con mente de algo que hoy todavía existe y lo veo en la gente que pretenden no saber que hago música de corazón. Fuese un falso queresercomercializado y, si, me ven… algunos rastas en mi pueblo nunca dejaron de colocar un tema de reggae que yo hice llamado “School days”, esta en la maketa “Gideon Ball” entre muchas pistas de rap, eso me mostró mas sobre mi poder para cantar Reggae.
En 2004 fui para Venezuela a estudiar administración de fincas en una universidad en Barinas. Durante ese tiempo aprendí español y naturalmente llegaba a conocer toda la poca gente relacionada con reggae rasta y realidad en donde sea que estuve. Quizás mi apariencia es de artista y con el nombre IDZ. Yo cantaba en las noches internacionales con El Kaya de San kitts, Rose de Grenada, Horrel de Jamaica y Trus Me de San Kitts...Yo ya tenia una maketa llamado “GIDEON BALL” que hice en 2003 antes de viajar en un estudio casero de rigde3000 un pana que luego en 2005 durante de mis vacaciones en Dominica me grabo otra maketa pero en un estudio mejor donde el trabajaba haciendo propagandas.Ahi fue que grabe mis primeras canciones en español y otras con, sobre pistas originales de RIDGE3000, como “Mas Negro”.
Gracias a Still J y Dini MC Black (Sin Raza) un dúo de rap venezolano por llevarme a grabar en Bocono Venezuela este mismo año a grabar. Me di cuenta que muchos querían grabar conmigo…… Hicimos 2 videos,”Música Real y La Música no es competencia “, check mis enlaces en el Facebook. Grabamos 7 temas en total, yo hice una recopilación de mis primeras canciones en español mas esas y hice una maketa, la llame “MAS NEGRO” y así seguí.
Estando todavía en Venezuela, grabe 4 temas en Pedraza en el estudio de MARIO un cantante de R&B….Después, alguien me hablo de caracas city y que allá hay todo lo que no he visto y escuchado en Barinas. 2007, Fui y pase un año en caracas, conocí a muchos grupos y gente y sitios. Cante con Ras Jamaica en Trenchtown, en Parque del Este con Dur Dur Band y también en Maroma bar. Una vez me llamaron a la tarima con Black Ghetto en Tiuna el Fuerte también. Yo vendía mis maketas en capitolio y buscaba apoyo de Ávila TV pero nunca tomaron el tiempo de escucharme o no se si me hacia falta bling bling.
Hoy en día en Dominica, soy más constante por tener mi propio estudio casero. Y es solo un micrófono, un laptop, unos programas de edición musical y una Empress corista...Alguien me pregunta ¿porque no grabo música profesional si tengo tanta letra y esa voz ¿….Pues grabar música en un estudio aquí en Dominica es muy caro y nadie lo hace por ayudar a Jah Works , ni a Bob reencarnado ayudarían gratis ...Entonces prefiero seguir el camino en que estoy hasta que un productor buscando música hecho real me encuentra.
Mi estilo de música no tiene nombre específico, o puede ser “versitile”. Solo escucho una pista sin voces y ya me sale algo que combina por eso grabo tantos temas. Siempre improviso un coro y lo grabo, luego termino la canción.
En esos días saque una cuenta desde mi Itunes y tengo 13 maketas y otros sencillos. La mayoría en ingles, 3 en español, y creole también canto en algunos versos. Los riddims son variados entre Reggae, Nyah Beat, Dancehall y Rap de productores específicos. Still J de Sin raza es un Boss haciendo pistas reggae/rap. Ras Cubo STX siempre con HI POWA roots desde san Croix.un estilo parecido a la música de midnite band.
Si alguien pregunta ¿Porque grabo sobre pistas no originales? Digo es así cuando estas todavía underground y están disponibles los Beats.
Presentemente estoy grabando algo llamado “IN IT” puro estilos originales sobre dubs full bajo con coros de Empress Jahniela.
